Switzerland: Higher Education

In the spring of 2012, Chris, Jonathan, Cassidy and Chantie studied abroad together in Switzerland.

Our group project initiative began with a common interest in education: we are interested in how students are motivated – specifically, what opportunities are students given to think critically and feel that their learning efforts matter? We’re interested in exploring “what works” in an education system.

With our time in Switzerland through Virginia Tech’s Presidential Global Scholars Program, we researched the Swiss higher education structure and how culture influenced and is influenced by it. Through numerous conversations with students, professors, administrators and government officials, we gained a better understanding of Swiss education.
